Low EC vs High EC Coco Peat
| Type | EC Value | Process | Best For | Buyer Segment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low EC | < 0.5 mS/cm (washed) | Thoroughly washed with fresh water to remove salts | Hydroponics, nurseries, horticulture, vegetable & fruit cultivation | Professional growers, greenhouse farms |
| High EC | > 1.0 mS/cm (unwashed) | Directly sun-dried, not washed | Landscaping, soil conditioning, flower gardens, lawns | Bulk importers, landscaping companies |
EC = Electrical Conductivity → measures the salt content in coco peat.
In simple words:
- Low EC = Pure, washed, best for vegetables & fruits.
- High EC = Raw, unwashed, best for soil improvement.
Coco Peat, Chips & Mixes
| Type | Description | Advantages | Uses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peat (Dust/Fine Powder) | Fine powdery material from husk | High water holding, good aeration | Seedlings, nurseries, hydroponics |
| Chips (Small/Medium/Large) | Small cube-like coconut pieces | Excellent drainage, prevents waterlogging | Hydroponics (tomato, cucumber), orchids, floriculture |
| Peat + Chips Mix | Custom blend (e.g., 70:30, 50:50) | Balanced water retention & aeration | Commercial farms, greenhouse crops |
Coco peat can be processed into different grades depending on buyer needs.
Grades of Coco Peat
Different buyers demand different grades. We specialize in sourcing and supplying the exact grade as per crop and country.
Super Fine Grade
Particle Size: <1mm
Properties: High water retention, slow drainage
Application: Tissue culture, seed germination trays
Fine Grade
Particle Size: 1–2mm
Properties: Balanced water holding & aeration
Application: Nurseries, floriculture, vegetables
Medium Grade
Particle Size: 2–4mm
Properties: Faster drainage, good aeration
Application: Hydroponics, commercial vegetable cultivation
Coarse Grade
Particle Size: >4mm
Properties: Maximum aeration, less water holding
